A recent study by Coinover, a blockchain security firm, found that 46% of participants consider Bitcoin (BTC) to be the most popular cryptocurrency, followed by non-fungible tokens (NFTs) at 18% and Ethereum at 17%. The study which surveyed over 16,000 individuals revealed that 17% currently own cryptocurrencies, while approximately 30% plan to invest in them within the next year.

The study indicates that over half of the respondents (55%) expressed curiosity about cryptocurrencies, although only 11% actively participate in the crypto market. While 50% of those surveyed were positive about their financial earnings related to cryptocurrencies, 20% expressed dissatisfaction with the returns.

Commenting on the findings, David Janczewski, CEO and co-founder at Coinover, emphasized the need for the industry to address consumer concerns, stating, "Crypto's potential is enormous, but our research highlights the necessity for the industry to demonstrate its commitment to protecting investors, building consumer confidence, and establishing stronger foundations for the future."

Despite the generally positive sentiment towards cryptocurrencies among the participants, the study also showed that 19% of those interviewed hold a cynical view of crypto, while an additional 25% remain closed to the idea of cryptocurrencies altogether.

Trust issues surrounding crypto exchanges were also a significant concern. The study found that centralized crypto exchanges lack the trust of 30% of non-crypto users. Furthermore, when asked about their technology-related concerns, 30% of the respondents expressed worries about cryptocurrencies. The study report noted that many participants perceive crypto as more of an enabler of financial fraud rather than a privacy tool.

As the crypto industry seeks wider adoption, the study's findings emphasize the importance of addressing consumer concerns and improving trust in crypto exchanges. By prioritizing investor protection, building consumer confidence, and emphasizing the potential benefits of cryptocurrencies, the industry can pave the way for a more secure and inclusive future.
