Despite various challenges such as inflation, monetary tightening by Western central banks, ongoing conflicts in Europe and the Middle East, and the persistent effects of the global pandemic, the year 2023 witnessed a considerable increase in the global number of crypto holders, reaching a remarkable 580 million by the end of December. This growth contrasts with the notable decrease in crypto adoption observed towards the end of 2022, which many attribute to the collapse of the major crypto exchange, FTX.

The approval of 11 Bitcoin exchange-traded fund applications by the US Securities and Exchange Commission on January 10th, 2023, provided further validation to the cryptocurrency industry, bolstering market confidence and leading to a surge in crypto adoption. Additionally, the increasing visibility of cryptocurrencies at major sports and entertainment events has contributed to their adoption.
