The role of Bitcoin in countries’ policies continues to be a topic of interest amid global debates on its existence and functionality. Recently, Bitcoin reached its all-time high, sparking questions about the Swiss National Bank’s stance on the cryptocurrency.

The president of the Swiss National Bank (SNB) expressed his doubt about holding Bitcoin as a reserve currency, stating that it may not align with the institution’s interests. During the central bank’s annual general meeting, Thomas Jordan highlighted the drawbacks of investing in the leading cryptocurrency, emphasizing the importance of liquidity, sustainability, and ease of buying and selling for currency reserves.

Cryptocurrency enthusiasts have urged the SNB to include Bitcoin in its foreign reserves, but the chairman of Bitcoin Suisse, Luzius Meisser, also attending the meeting, advocated for investing in Bitcoin to strengthen the Swiss Franc and the independence of the Swiss National Bank.

Currently, Bitcoin is trading at $63,188, which marks a 2.43% decrease over the last 7 days and an 8% drop over the past 30 days. The cryptocurrency’s market cap has fallen to $1.243 trillion in the last 24 hours, dropping below the $1.250 trillion level. Additionally, the 24-hour trading volume has declined by 20%, indicating a decrease in investor interest.
