Telegram has introduced a new feature allowing users to purchase in-platform advertisements using Toncoin, as announced recently. This enhancement is part of Telegram's latest initiative for user monetization, wherein 50% of ad revenue generated in public Telegram channels is distributed to their respective owners.

Users can now promote their channels by spending a small amount of Toncoins, with the flexibility to select specific channels for their TON-powered ads. Additionally, channel owners can withdraw their earnings without incurring fees, and the withdrawal service will soon be accessible on Telegram's Fragment exchange.

The decision to utilize the TON Blockchain was influenced by its advantages such as low fees, high transaction speeds, and impressive transaction processing capabilities, as demonstrated by its record of 100,000 transactions per second in a recent test.

Telegram's CEO Pavel Durov hinted at this update earlier on his personal channel, noting that while Telegram channels garner over 1 trillion monthly views, only 10% of channels have been monetized through Telegram ads to date. Durov envisions this new feature creating a positive cycle where content creators can either convert their Toncoins to cash or reinvest them to enhance their channels.
