Tether, the creator of the world's top stablecoin USDT, is making strides in the competition to acquire more Bitcoin (BTC). Recently, the company significantly bolstered its reserves by purchasing 8,889 BTC, reaching a total of over 75,000 BTC, valued at a hefty $5.3 billion. This move highlights Tether's ongoing efforts to solidify its position in the realm of digital currencies.

Reports from Arkham Intelligence detailed that Tether received this batch of Bitcoin from Bitfinex's active wallet on March 31, 2024, at 17:21 UTC, totaling an impressive $627 million. This transaction not only adds to Tether's Bitcoin reserves but also elevates its status as the world's seventh-largest Bitcoin holder.

In the past year, Tether has notably increased its Bitcoin holdings, disclosing its BTC reserves in early 2023. They have been transparent about allocating up to 15% of corporate profits from surplus stablecoin reserves towards Bitcoin investments.
