Although the bug poses no threat to the security of users' assets on the Tezos mainnet and Etherlink platform, it significantly impacts the transfer of funds from Etherlink to Tezos' layer 1. The bugfix is integrated into the ParisC protocol, which is part of the newly launched Octez v20.1 upgrade.

The upgrade is scheduled to be activated through a user-activated upgrade at block 5,898,241, anticipated to occur within a week. To ensure a seamless transition and maintain network integrity, Nomadic Labs strongly advises all Tezos bakers and node operators to upgrade to Octez v20.1 without delay. The timely update is crucial for the smooth activation of the ParisC protocol, addressing the identified bug. The proximity of the UAU activation date underscores the urgency of this upgrade.
