Bitcoin (BTC) and ether (ETH) have seen their momentum falter in the aftermath of the release of robust U.S. jobs data last Friday, which tempered expectations for a potential interest-rate cut by the Federal Reserve in September.

In the wake of the post-report decline in prices of the two leading cryptocurrencies, QCP Capital, a trading firm headquartered in Singapore, views the situation as an opportune moment to capitalize on discounted assets.

The U.S. non-farm payrolls data for May stunned analysts by revealing a staggering addition of 272,000 jobs to the economy, far surpassing the estimated figure of 185,000 and significantly outperforming April's revised count of 165,000. Despite a marginal uptick in the unemployment rate to 4%, the data showed a noteworthy 0.4% month-on-month increase in average hourly earnings, exceeding the anticipated 0.3% rise.

The unexpected strength exhibited by the job market triggered a reduction in the likelihood of a 25 basis-point interest-rate cut by the Federal Reserve in September, diminishing it from 85% to 60%. Consequently, this development precipitated a downturn in risk assets, including the cryptocurrency market. Notably, financial institutions such as JPMorgan and Citi retracted their earlier forecasts for a Federal Reserve rate cut in July, while deliberations regarding potential rate hikes or further liquidity tightening have resurfaced.

Bitcoin, which had appeared poised to breach the $72,000 mark, experienced a notable decline of almost 3% to $68,400, according to data from CoinDesk, with ether and the CoinDesk 20 index following suit in their descent.

Anticipating challenges for the Federal Reserve in maintaining its current interest-rate levels amidst the backdrop of other central banks worldwide lowering borrowing costs, QCP Capital regards the current market dip as a strategic buying opportunity. They foresee markets increasingly factoring in at least one Federal Reserve rate cut in the near future.

The recent rate cuts by the European Central Bank and the Bank of Canada have prompted the Group of Seven (G7) to embark on what could be perceived as the onset of an easing cycle. This sequence of rate reductions by central banks, coupled with the potential for analogous actions by the Federal Reserve, may escalate into currency wars and bolster demand for alternative investments such as cryptocurrencies.

QCP Capital has observed bullish activity amid the market dip, particularly noting increased interest in purchasing call spreads, especially in BTC.
