The Cumulative Total Value Locked (TVL) of ETH Layer 2s has seen a remarkable surge, with new Layer 2s emerging regularly. The launch of Blast, for instance, has catapulted it to the sixth-largest chain by TVL. Moreover, the implementation of EIP-4844 has led to a substantial increase in transactions per block on other L2s. This growth has sparked both excitement and apprehension among analysts, who worry about the implications of liquidity fragmentation.

Liquidity fragmentation occurs when active liquidity is thinly spread across multiple chains and protocols, resulting in a low concentration of volume. This can lead to market and protocol inefficiencies, making it challenging for users to navigate the DeFi landscape.
