The ICP Community Conference (ICPCC) is gearing up to create ripples in the blockchain world by transitioning into a fully decentralized autonomous organization (DAO). Scheduled to unfold on May 10, this milestone event signals a significant step in the continuous drive towards decentralization in the blockchain domain.

Known for its unwavering focus on the Internet Computer Protocol (ICP) ecosystem, the ICPCC seeks to shine a spotlight on the potential of ICP and its seamless integration with other prominent chains such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana. This global livestream event will transcend borders, with meetup watch parties arranged in more than 25 cities worldwide, ensuring widespread participation and active involvement.

The transition towards a DAO model underscores the event's unwavering dedication to decentralization. The freshly minted DAO will be overseen by elected council members collectively known as the ICPCC Council. These council members, serving as stewards, will be tasked with formulating proposals aimed at guiding the DAO towards its objectives. However, they will not wield the authority to act on behalf of the DAO, thereby guaranteeing a truly decentralized decision-making process.

A standout feature of the DAO lies in its "leadership-as-a-service" approach, where council members are entrusted with crafting top-tier proposals, while other DAO members are empowered to directly elect or remove them. Furthermore, the DAO harnesses the capabilities of the SNS framework, granting complete control over decentralized applications (DApps) devoid of any gas fees.

The DAO will be officially registered as Marshall Islands DAO LLC, granting it legal entity status and enabling it to oversee intellectual property management and contract signings exclusively through on-chain proposals. This move signifies a notable stride towards crypto adoption, as the annual registration fee will be settled directly in USD Coin, a stablecoin.

Isaac Valadez, the venture lead at Code & State, the ICP-focused venture studio spearheading the event, emphasized the community-centric essence of the DAO, affirming, "This won’t be our DAO. The ICP community really is taking over total control."

Additionally, the ICPCC DAO LLC will host an annual physical conference commencing in 2025, underscoring its ongoing commitment to community involvement and decentralization. Centered on ownership and active engagement, the event will provide participants with opportunities to receive airdrops of tokens and NFTs, fostering inclusivity and bolstering engagement within the ecosystem.
