The Hashgraph Association, a Swiss non-profit entity, has teamed up with the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) to establish a $50 million digital assets venture studio, aimed at assisting companies in developing regulatory-compliant decentralized finance (defi) solutions.

This collaboration seeks to support Hedera-powered Web3 startups focusing on building defi solutions that adhere to regulatory standards. The venture studio will be linked to Qatar’s Digital Assets Lab within the QFC Innovation Dome, launched as part of Qatar’s "National Vision 2030" to accelerate research and development in the digital asset sector.

This partnership reflects the Hashgraph Association's continued expansion in the Middle East and North Africa region, following a similar agreement with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Investment to launch a $250 million deep tech venture studio.

Yousuf Mohamed Al-Jaida, CEO and board member of QFC, highlighted the alignment of this partnership with Qatar’s fintech strategy, emphasizing its role in advancing innovative projects to position the country as a financial and commercial hub by 2030. Kamal Youssefi, president of the Hashgraph Association, views this alliance as a strategic move expected to nurture a thriving Web3 and blockchain ecosystem.

Additionally, the statement disclosed a collaboration between the Swiss government and the Hashgraph Association to facilitate an entrepreneur exchange program, enabling entrepreneurs from Qatar and Switzerland to travel between the two countries, fostering further collaboration and knowledge exchange.
