In a bid to stabilize Pakistan's struggling economy and secure a $3 billion financial assistance package from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the country is under pressure to implement proper taxation measures on cryptocurrency investments and real estate transactions.

During discussions between Pakistani authorities and the IMF regarding the $3 billion financial aid package, the IMF has insisted that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) overhaul its tax policies to include cryptocurrencies. Additionally, there is a call for a review of tax brackets related to real estate and registered securities to ensure that all income is subject to taxation.

If these proposed measures are adopted, real estate entities may be required to meticulously track and disclose any changes in property ownership and transfers. Failure to comply with the new regulations could result in penalties for unpaid taxes, ultimately helping to regulate real estate activities.

If Pakistan agrees to these terms, the IMF is poised to disburse approximately $1.1 billion as the final installment of the financial aid package secured by Pakistan last year, preventing the country from falling into a debt default situation.
