The Klaytn Foundation has embraced $GPC (Gold Pegged Coin) and fully endorsed the DeFi platform, Goldstation, on its blockchain.

Klaytn, originating from Kakao, a major player in South Korea's internet sector, has partnered with CREDER, a digital transformation company, to launch $GPC, the first gold token available on DeFi outside of Ethereum. Users of $GPC will benefit from lower gas fees on the Klaytn blockchain and the ability to make smaller gold investments without percentage-based transaction charges.

Sam Seo, the Representative Director of the Klaytn Foundation, expressed support for CREDER's $GPC and Goldstation initiatives, emphasizing the importance of expanding metal RWA tokenization efforts domestically and internationally.

Goldstation is set to launch its services, including $GPC staking, on January 24, 2024, initially targeting South Korean residents before expanding globally. Klaytn's utilization extends to DeFi, real-time asset tokenization, and participation in the Bank of Korea's CBDC trial project.

In November 2023, Klaytn partnered with Korindo's shipping arm to explore tokenization opportunities for shipping-related assets.
