Activity on Base, the layer two blockchain incubated by Coinbase, remains robust as March draws to a close, witnessing surges in both daily transactions and trading volumes, reaching unprecedented highs.

On March 29th alone, there were 2.27 million transactions on Base, marking a new record high, as reported by data sourced from a Dune Analytics dashboard created by user @watermeloncrypto.

This surge in daily activity follows a previous record set on March 18th, with approximately 9.59 million weekly transactions on Base, surpassing the previous record of about 9.3 million set in September of the prior year. Additionally, Base's weekly network revenue also hit an all-time high on March 18th, according to available data.

Decentralized exchanges operating on Base also witnessed record-high volumes recently, with a total 24-hour volume reaching $657.19 million, as reported by Defi Llama data.

March showcased a remarkable increase in DEX activity on Base compared to previous months, with $6.67 billion traded this month, significantly exceeding the $1.26 billion traded the month before.

Earlier reports indicated that Base's total value locked exceeded $1 billion, coinciding with Coinbase's announcement to hold more corporate and customer USDC balances on the L2.

Contributing to the current activity surge on Base is the introduction of mfercoin by Sartoshi, the founder of the cc0 nonfungible token collection mfers. Late last night, mfercoin tokens were airdropped to mfer NFT holders.

As of now, the price of mfercoin stands at $0.23, with a reported market capitalization of approximately $232 million according to CoinMarketCap.

Sales of mfer NFTs surged by over 6000% in the past 24 hours, propelling its floor price significantly to 0.719 ETH on OpenSea, as per data from CryptoSlam.
