In our personal and professional development, having a mentor is ideal, especially in the Crypto space. They provide guidance, support, and a wealth of experience to help their mentee navigate the complexities of the evolving Crypto world, get along with trends, prepare them for their first Crypto jobs, etc. However, mentees must understand that, despite the invaluable assistance mentors offer, they shouldn't feel an overwhelming sense of indebtedness.

Mentorship is a dynamic relationship that should foster growth and independence. This is why a Mentee needs to recognize that the ultimate goal is not perpetual reliance on the mentor but rather the development of skills and insights that allow them to soar independently.

One misconception that can hinder this growth is the notion that mentees should always defer to their mentors, adhering unquestioningly to their ideas and requests. On the contrary, mentees should feel empowered to seek positions that might even be higher than those of their mentors. They shouldn't accept all the directives of their mentors hook, line, and sinker, because they are not demigods.

Mentors, being human, are not infallible. They can make mistakes or hold perspectives that might not align with one's strategy. In such instances, it becomes the responsibility of the mentee to respectfully offer alternative viewpoints and suggestions. It is not binding to follow the mentor blindly nor should one be afraid to make objections.

In the crypto space, various players have their approach toward Cryptocurrency, blockchain, and Web3, as such, it is possible that a mentee by the time he or she is conversant with the Crypto world, may choose to take another route different from that of the mentor.

I have seen situations where mentors refer to their mentees as ingrate simply because the mentee failed to follow him or her blindly, or the fact that the mentee is now doing better than them.

A mentee should embrace the idea that surpassing their mentors is a natural and positive outcome of effective mentorship. A mentor's success is, in part, measured by the achievements of their mentees. Instead of feeling conflicted about outgrowing their mentor, mentees should view it as a testament to the effectiveness of the mentorship.

Mentees must understand that seeking independence doesn't diminish the value of the mentor's contributions. Mentors, ideally, take pride in seeing their mentees evolve and surpass them. Sadly, I am not sure this is the case in the Crypto world.

The mentee-mentor dynamic thrives when it encourages independence, open communication, and the willingness to challenge conventional wisdom. Moving beyond one's mentor is not a betrayal but evidence of the success of the mentorship.
