The Federal High Court in Nigeria dismissed a human rights lawsuit brought by Binance executive Nadeem Anjarwalla against the National Security Adviser and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Justice Inyang Ekwo made this decision on June 19 due to Anjarwalla appearing without legal representation. Legal experts anticipated this outcome, noting Anjarwalla's escape from Nigerian custody in March and subsequent withdrawal of his lawyer, Tonye Krukrubo, from the case.

Anjarwalla, who holds dual British and Kenyan citizenship, was detained by Nigerian authorities in February amid regulatory concerns regarding Binance's operations. He fled custody using a Kenyan passport, and his current whereabouts are unknown.

In contrast, Tigran Gambaryan, another Binance executive, remains in Nigerian custody at Kuje Prison. He faces multiple legal challenges, including a pending human rights enforcement application against the Nigerian government scheduled for July 9. Gambaryan has also been charged with money laundering and denied bail due to flight risk concerns.

Recently, Nigeria’s Federal Inland Revenue Service dropped charges against Gambaryan, opting to focus on Binance itself. Speculations suggest potential U.S. government intervention following a meeting between FBI Director Christopher Wray and Nigerian President Bola Tinubu. Binance has clarified that Gambaryan does not hold a significant decision-making role within the company, suggesting his detention should not delay resolving the regulatory issues with Nigeria.
