The notion of users interacting with blockchain technology without being consciously aware of it, known as chain abstraction, represents a fundamental aspect of delivering a more user-friendly Web3 experience. This principle underpins the vision of Stripchain, an interoperability protocol that recently secured $10 million in funding to facilitate chain abstraction on a large scale.

"0xnovachrono," a pseudonymous researcher leading the protocol alongside Isa Sertkaya and Narayana Pryusty, articulated the aspiration succinctly: "Just like we don’t care about the back end system of Netflix, we should not care about the back end system of a decentralized application."

Sora Ventures spearheaded the funding round for Stripchain, with participation from notable angel investors such as Santiago Santos, Stephane Gosselin of Frontier Research, Ryan Selkis of Messari, alongside venture capital firms Hyperithm, Shima Capital, Hypersphere, Mechanism, and Ascensive Assets.

The imperative for improved UX in the crypto space is underscored by Sora Ventures, emphasizing the need to abstract chain-specific intricacies for mass adoption. Overcoming the steep learning curve associated with various chains, virtual machines (VMs), and key management constitutes a significant pain point for newcomers, according to a spokesperson for Sora Ventures.

Stripchain empowers developers to create commands, termed intents, to execute actions like transferring data between different blockchains. Operating on the stripVM system, it facilitates seamless communication and coordination between diverse protocols, marking a departure from earlier interoperability solutions.

A distinguishing feature of Stripchain lies in its focus on the transaction layer and the utilization of a proof of authority system. While prior interoperability solutions targeted either the protocol layer or the contractual layer via bridges, Stripchain streamlines data transfer at the user layer, aiming to bridge the execution layers of different systems.

Currently undergoing private beta testing, Stripchain anticipates launching its testnet in the coming months, offering a glimpse into the potential of chain abstraction to enhance the user experience and foster broader adoption within the crypto ecosystem.
