The hack, which initially seized a staggering $48 million (now inflated to $121 million due to market fluctuations), had remained dormant for months, leading many to believe the stolen assets were lying dormant in a digital vault.

The reemergence of the hacker, however, has reignited concerns as nearly $50 million worth of stolen Ether was recently transferred to a new wallet and subsequently run through Tornado Cash. This laundering tactic effectively obscures the trail of cryptocurrency transactions, making it incredibly challenging, if not impossible, to trace and recover the pilfered funds.

The motive behind the sudden activity of the hacker remains unclear. Speculation abounds, with some suggesting it could be linked to Orbit Chain's recent reactivation of certain bridging services, enabling users to transfer crypto assets across different blockchains. This could imply that the hacker is gearing up to liquidate their assets, or it might be a ploy to further confound investigators.

Orbit Chain has been less than forthcoming with details about the hack, despite assurances of cooperation with authorities. The protocol has also failed to address user concerns regarding potential reimbursement, leaving many investors feeling adrift in the digital realm.
