In an interview with Breitbart News, Emmer expressed his criticism of certain lawmakers, labeling them as "dinosaurs" for their backing of a central bank digital currency (CBDC), which he believes could be misused as a surveillance tool. Notable figures like Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Rep. Brad Sherman, and Rep. Maxine Waters, who have been vocal opponents of cryptocurrencies, were specifically called out by Emmer for their stance on these issues.

The FIT for the 21st Century Act seeks to enhance consumer protection by improving transparency and addressing regulatory uncertainties between the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) concerning cryptocurrencies. Emmer emphasized the importance of this legislation in maintaining America's leadership in the rapidly evolving financial technology sector, highlighting it as a pivotal step towards fostering innovation on the internet.

Furthermore, the House also approved the H.R. 5403 CBDC Anti-Surveillance State Act, designed to prevent the Federal Reserve from introducing a central bank digital currency. Recent legislative actions have included measures to counter the SEC's Staff Accounting Bulletin No. 121, which mandated banks to account for cryptocurrencies as liabilities on their balance sheets.

Emmer pointed out the growing bipartisan support for digital currencies, noting that opposition primarily stems from older members of Congress. He emphasized the significance of embracing cryptocurrencies for younger generations, stating that this technology resonates with individuals aged 18 to 40. Emmer criticized bureaucratic figures like Gary Gensler for impeding innovation in an attempt to maintain control, portraying them as obstacles to progress in the crypto space.
