In a strategic move, Elon Musk's social network has introduced a new policy requiring users to pay a nominal yearly fee to unlock premium features such as News Daily, posting privileges, likes, and bookmarks. Musk cites the necessity of combating bots and fake accounts as the driving force behind this initiative.

This latest policy addition has elicited a spectrum of reactions from platform users. However, the Open Network (TON) blockchain sees it as potentially spurring greater crypto adoption indirectly.

The outcome? More users are expected to gravitate towards the allure of free, censorship-resistant media platforms like Telegram, particularly with the recent launch of the Add sharing program.

Meanwhile, Telegram founder Pavel Durov has revealed plans to distribute 50% of advertising revenue through the TON blockchain, a move aimed at incentivizing the hosting of Telegram broadcast channels. This initiative also serves as a global push for digital asset adoption, further integrating cryptocurrencies into everyday transactions.

Since the program's launch, Ton's native cryptocurrency, Toncoin (TON), has surged to fresh all-time highs on multiple occasions, indicating increased utility and demand. However, like several other virtual currencies, Toncoin recently experienced a retracement, currently trading 19% below its peak of $7.65, according to CoinMarketCap.
