Suprised right? The title may seem unrelated to typical tech-oriented articles, but in fact, it's related to our daily lives. Can we, as tech enthusiasts, dedicate ourselves to a single commitment for an entire year? And if so, what would that commitment be?

Reflect for a moment: what's the one thing you check every day? Perhaps it's your smartphone, a glance in the mirror, or your laptop. Whatever it may be, consider taking this habitual behaviour and transforming it into a reminder, a catalyst for a 12-month journey towards personal development and growth. For me, the challenge took on a new perspective. I wrote down a specific goal, something I aspire to achieve, and captured it as a screenshot. This visual reminder, as my phone's screensaver, serves as a constant cue, urging me towards commitment to my goals.

This act goes beyond the usual New Year's resolutions. It's not merely a promise on January 1st, soon forgotten by February. Instead, it's a persistent daily reminder, to be the best you can be!

Actionable Steps

Here are steps you can take to begin making the most out of your time as a Web3 enthusiast:

Pick ONE specific skill you want to learn: There are different paths you can follow in the Web3 space, I shared some here. Decide which you will commit to learning for the next 12 months, yes one thing for a whole year.

Figure out your WHY: For you to commit in the long term, you need to know your why. If you stick to learning, what are the results, if you don't what are the effects? As I mentioned above, make this specific, and write it where you can see it every day.

Start a course and COMPLETE it: In tech, business and life in general, the shiny object syndrome is when you get distracted from your goal to "pursue" something that seems more promising than what you are already doing. When you begin learning, whether it's Web3 development or Technical writing, ensure you complete a course before embarking on another one.

Learn and Practice EVERYDAY: If you want to make actual progress in the next 12 months, you need to put in high-volume effort. Learning and practising every day can be for 30 minutes or 1 hour, just make out time to do it consistently 7 days a week.

SHARE what you learn: One thing I learnt after 4 years of beginning my tech journey was the importance of sharing your work. You don't have to wait till you master the skill. By sharing what you learn (in the form of articles/videos/tweets/posts), you learn better, build visibility and credibility.

By taking consistent action on these steps, you are on your way to self-development and building valuable skills.

As the new year, 2024 draws closer, we can begin preparing our minds and taking daily action on learning that will have a positive impact on our lives and others.

Education is key to making progress, and just as the Web3, education today is decentralized. There are courses (free/paid) online that you can take to learn high-value skills.

In essence, it's not too early to set a New Year's resolution as a Web3 enthusiast. The best time to set your resolution/goals and begin taking action on them was yesterday. The second best time is now :)

So why wait for January 2024? Take action and start today. Aim to be better than your current self in the next 12 months. Remember, it's You against You.
