Animoca Brands Announces Major Update for Torque Drift 2

Grease Monkey Games (GMG), a game studio under Animoca Brands, has announced the release of the 0.9 update for their leading drift racing simulator, Torque Drift 2 (TD2). This update, now available for PC on the Epic Games Store, introduces a variety of new features and enhancements to improve the gaming experience.

New Car Models and Features

The 0.9 update adds new car models from renowned brands such as Nissan, Toyota, and Honda, including the Nissan R33, Toyota Chaser JZX100, Toyota MK4 Supra, Honda S2000, and Honda Civic Type R. These join an existing lineup that features the Nissan R34, Nissan R35, Mazda RX7, Mazda MX5, and Nissan 370z.

The update also introduces a new game mode called “Freestyle,” where players can test their drifting skills by hitting as many clipping points as possible within a set time. This mode offers Beginner, Intermediate, and Pro circuits to accommodate different skill levels.

Multiplayer and In-Game Economy Enhancements

A major addition in this update is the introduction of multiplayer leaderboards, allowing global competition for top scores. Leaderboards are reset weekly, providing players regular opportunities to earn rewards, including the REVV token and a new virtual currency called Torque Funds (ToFu).

The in-game shop has been redesigned for better accessibility, allowing players to purchase new standard or limited-edition cars and parts using REVV tokens and Torque Funds.

Integration with Motorverse

Torque Drift 2 is now part of Motorverse, a global digital ecosystem supported by Animoca Brands that focuses on digital vehicle ownership and automotive culture. This integration includes support for the REVV token, which can be used to buy in-game assets such as cars, parts, tracks, and services across multiple games within the Motorverse ecosystem. Players can also earn weekly REVV rewards by ranking high on the new leaderboards.

Since its Early Access launch in October 2023, Torque Drift 2 has garnered over 380,000 downloads, fostering a dynamic motorsports community. The game offers extensive customization options, realistic car physics, and performance tuning for various peripherals.

With numerous licensed partnerships, Torque Drift 2 features some of the world’s leading motorsport organizations and car manufacturers, including Nissan, Toyota, Honda, Formula DRIFT, Konig, and Mishimoto, with more expected in the future.
