Trezor has unveiled its new flagship device, the Trezor Safe 5, featuring enhanced security measures and a haptic color touchscreen. Additionally, they launched the Trezor Expert, a personalized onboarding service for new users.

CryptoSlate had a hands-on preview of the Trezor Safe 5 before its official debut at BTC Prague. This device improves security and usability for digital asset management, with a color touchscreen and the Trezor Touch haptic engine for a visually engaging interface. The Secure Element is NDA-free and EAL 6+ certified, ensuring robust protection for sensitive data and cryptographic operations.

The Trezor Safe 5 offers an upgraded 20-word backup process, transitioning from a standard Single-share Backup to an Advanced Multi-share Backup using Shamir’s secret sharing. This method splits the master secret key into multiple shares, enhancing security by avoiding a single point of failure. Even if some shares are lost, users can still access their crypto. Trezor also provides a 20-word version of its Trezor Keep Metal solution for $99 to protect backup phrases from physical damage.

Encased in damage-proof Gorilla Glass, the Trezor Safe 5 is available in Black Graphite, Violet Ore, and Green Beryl finishes. It supports numerous cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), ensuring extensive compatibility. Users can securely store, manage, stake, and use their crypto via the Trezor Suite desktop application and mobile app, leveraging third-party services for a customized experience.

For Bitcoin enthusiasts, Trezor offers a Bitcoin-only version of the Safe 5, which excludes non-Bitcoin features for a streamlined experience. Following the limited edition run of the Bitcoin-only Trezor Safe 3, Trezor now offers an unlimited edition of both the Bitcoin-only Trezor Safe 3 and Trezor Safe 5 in a fiery orange shade.

Trezor’s CEO, Matěj Žák, highlighted the significance of the Trezor Safe 5, stating that many crypto enthusiasts seek a secure and easy way to manage their digital assets outside of exchanges. Žák introduced the Trezor Safe 5 at BTC Prague 2024 and announced Trezor Expert, which provides personalized, one-on-one onboarding sessions to help customers set up their hardware wallets. Trezor Expert aims to build user confidence in self-custody, offering step-by-step guidance on best practices and basic security concepts. Sessions can be booked at users' convenience, providing interactive learning experiences and ensuring customers understand private key management and safe online practices.

The Trezor Safe 5 is available for preorder at $169. The Bitcoin-only and Black Graphite versions will ship in early July, while the Green Beryl and Violet Ore versions will be available by mid-August. Trezor Expert can be purchased on the Trezor e-shop for $99.
