Trezor has introduced the Trezor Safe 5, a new top-tier device featuring enhanced security and a haptic color touchscreen, along with Trezor Expert, a personalized onboarding service for new users.

CryptoSlate previewed the new touchscreen device before its official launch at BTC Prague. The Trezor Safe 5 offers improved security and usability for managing digital assets. It features a color touchscreen with the Trezor Touch haptic engine for an engaging interface. The device’s Secure Element is NDA-free and EAL 6+ certified, ensuring robust protection for sensitive data and cryptographic operations.

The Trezor Safe 5 includes an upgraded 20-word backup process, allowing users to switch from a standard Single-share Backup to an Advanced Multi-share Backup. This method uses Shamir’s secret sharing to split the master secret key into multiple unique shares, enhancing security by eliminating a single point of failure. Even if some shares are lost, users can still access their crypto. To protect these backup phrases from damage, Trezor offers a 20-word version of its Trezor Keep Metal solution for $99.

Encased in damage-proof Gorilla Glass, the Trezor Safe 5 is available in Black Graphite, Violet Ore, and Green Beryl finishes. It supports numerous cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), enabling users to securely store, manage, stake, and use their crypto. The Trezor Suite desktop and mobile apps allow users to monitor their assets and use third-party services for a personalized crypto experience.

For Bitcoin enthusiasts, Trezor offers a Bitcoin-only version of the Safe 5, removing non-Bitcoin features for a streamlined experience. Following a successful limited edition of the Bitcoin-only Trezor Safe 3, Trezor now offers unlimited editions of both the Bitcoin-only Trezor Safe 3 and Safe 5 in a fiery orange shade.

Matěj Žák, Trezor’s CEO, emphasized the significance of the Trezor Safe 5, stating that many crypto enthusiasts seek a secure and user-friendly way to manage their digital assets, which the Trezor Safe 5 aims to provide.

Žák unveiled the Trezor Safe 5 at BTC Prague 2024 and introduced Trezor Expert, which offers personalized, one-on-one online onboarding sessions to help customers set up their hardware wallets. Trezor Expert aims to build confidence in self-custody by guiding users through the setup process and teaching them how to protect their digital assets. Available seven days a week, Trezor Expert allows users to book sessions at their convenience and interact with specialists for a comprehensive learning experience.

Matěj Žák highlighted the importance of Trezor Expert, noting that newcomers to hardware wallets often lack the experience and confidence needed for setup. Trezor Expert provides personalized guidance from a trusted brand, covering security concepts like private key management and safe online practices.

The Trezor Safe 5 is available for preorder at $169, with the Bitcoin-only and Black Graphite versions shipping in early July and the Green Beryl and Violet Ore versions available by mid-August. Trezor Expert can be purchased on the Trezor e-shop for $99.
