Nomura's digital asset arm, Laser Digital, has joined forces with TruFin, a blockchain technology incubated by WebN, to embark on a new venture. They are launching the Laser Digital Polygon Adoption Fund ("Fund"), utilizing Polygon's Aggregation Layer (AggLayer) to translate the network's liquidity potential in the digital economy into an investment opportunity in traditional sectors.

The Fund will offer institutional investors access to one of the most widely used Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible Ethereum sidechains, Polygon proof of stake (PoS) protocol, and its native gas and staking token, Polygon-MATIC. Additionally, through TruFin’s TruStake liquid staking system, the Fund will provide native staking returns.

Employing staking, which allows participants to earn income by controlling and validating cryptocurrency transactions, the Fund aims to provide a familiar interface to traditional investors while ensuring security for the Polygon protocols. It is tailored for institutional funds, private asset managers, and sovereign wealth funds. The Fund underscores institutions' growing recognition of the benefits and necessity of decentralized security within the larger ecosystem.

The Fund will further enhance yield by offering liquid staking options using the underlying TruMATIC token, facilitated by TruFin’s Trustake technology. TruStake is an institutional-grade liquid staking system designed with a focus on enterprise-grade security, aiming to provide a higher native yield than direct staking, which typically stands at around 5%.

Over the past nine months, the TruStake vault has consistently achieved a historic native MATIC yield of over 5% APY, outperforming Lido regularly.

Institutional investors seek a straightforward method to invest in tokens that reward passive staking, with the potential to leverage tokens for higher DeFi income. Leading DeFi protocols like Chainlink and Balancer have collaborated with TruFin to enhance the utility of the underlying TruMATIC token.

By integrating the Polygon AggLayer, the Fund aims to attain high liquidity, robust cryptographic security, and nearly instantaneous cross-chain transactions by leveraging the aggregation of Zero-Knowledge (ZK) proofs from all interconnected chains. This integration, utilizing the strong security and decentralized features of the Ethereum network, seeks to enhance the Fund's operational efficiency on a highly performant network.

Leveraging Laser Digital’s institutional regulatory framework, the Fund will be distributed to institutional investors in all qualifying jurisdictions, starting with the United Kingdom, once the necessary registrations are completed.
