However, this contribution exceeded the legal limit of $844,600 for individual donations. As a result, the Trump campaign refunded the excess amount of $155,400 to each of the twins.

The Winklevoss brothers, founders of Gemini, a prominent cryptocurrency exchange, have been vocal supporters of Trump, labeling him as a “pro-Bitcoin” and “pro-crypto” candidate. They believe Trump will protect the crypto industry from regulatory actions, which they claim are stifling innovation.

Despite facing regulatory challenges and legal issues, the Winklevoss twins remain committed to their cause. They have been banned from operating crypto lending programs in New York due to allegations of misleading investors. However, they continue to support Trump and his campaign.

The Trump campaign has accepted Bitcoin donations, reflecting the former president’s embrace of the cryptocurrency community. The contributions will be divided among Trump’s campaign, his leadership political action committee, the Republican National Committee, and 42 state GOP committees.

The Winklevoss twins’ support for Trump is part of a larger effort to garner support from the business community and tech elites. This approach is different from the current administration led by President Joe Biden, which the Winklevoss twins and other crypto enthusiasts claim is hostile to the industry.

The Stand With Crypto PAC has also been active in endorsing candidates who support the cryptocurrency business. This PAC has endorsed 18 candidates for the upcoming elections, highlighting the growing political influence of crypto voters. The group claims that over 52 million people in America own digital currency and want a new financial system. This swing vote could significantly impact the outcome of the elections.
