In a decisive move to position himself as a pro-crypto candidate, former U.S. President Donald Trump has vowed to end what he describes as President Joe Biden’s "war on crypto" if he is re-elected. During a special address in West Palm Beach, Florida, on his 78th birthday, June 14, Trump emphasized his commitment to fostering a crypto-friendly environment in the United States.

“I will end Joe Biden’s war on crypto, and we will ensure that the future of crypto and the future of Bitcoin will be made in America; we’re going to keep it right here, and a lot of it is going to be done right here in Florida,” Trump proclaimed to his supporters.

This is not the first instance where Trump has criticized Biden's stance on cryptocurrency. On May 26, Trump criticized Biden's approach to the crypto industry, stating that the U.S. should aim for a leading position in the global crypto market. He reiterated his stance in a May 25 post on Truth Social, the social media platform owned by Trump Media and Technology Group, writing, “Crooked Joe Biden, on the other hand, the worst president in the history of our country, wants it to die a slow and painful death. That will never happen with me.”

As Trump prepares to challenge Biden in the 2024 presidential election, his stance on cryptocurrency is becoming a central aspect of his campaign. The election is set for November 5, 2024.

Trump Aims to Strengthen Florida's Crypto Presence

Trump's promise to bolster Florida as a crypto hub aligns with recent data from CoinLedger, which named Florida the "best state" for crypto taxes in the United States. The state’s favorable position is due to its lack of state income tax and crypto-friendly regulatory policies, including a pilot program allowing businesses to pay state fees in cryptocurrency. In contrast, New York was rated the worst state for crypto taxes.

On June 12, Trump also voiced support for the Bitcoin mining industry, expressing a desire for the U.S. to mine all remaining Bitcoin domestically. This commitment reflects a broader strategy to centralize crypto activities and investments within the U.S., particularly in Florida, which he sees as a burgeoning hub for the industry.

Trump’s proactive approach toward cryptocurrency marks a significant shift from the current administration's policies, positioning him as a candidate who advocates for innovation and growth in the crypto sector.
