Despite being convicted on 34 felony counts for falsifying business records, former President Donald Trump’s pro-crypto presidential campaign continues unabated.

On May 30, a Manhattan jury found Trump guilty of charges related to hush money payments made to Stormy Daniels during the 2016 campaign. Sentencing is scheduled for July 11, but legal experts confirm that Trump can still run for president. NBC News and MSNBC legal analyst Chuck Rosenberg stated that the Constitution does not prevent individuals with criminal convictions from running for office.

Pro-crypto campaign undeterred

Trump's rival, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., suggested the conviction might boost Trump’s election chances, noting that Trump’s pro-crypto stance is a positive development despite his reservations about the former president.

Polymarket odds show Trump’s chances in the upcoming election remain strong at 56%. Unlike Eugene Debs, who ran from prison in 1920 and won 3% of the vote, Trump is a serious contender in 2024.

Trump’s potential presidency while serving a sentence raises complex legal questions. Rosenberg stated it’s a challenging issue to address.

The trial's outcome impacts Trump’s public image and the performance of his digital assets. Trading volume for the “Trump Digital Trading Card Collection” dropped 99% before the trial, while political memecoins tied to Trump saw significant volatility. The “FreeTrump” ($TRUMP) memecoin surged 540%, while the Biden-related token Jeo Boden (BODEN) fell 8.9%. Other Trump-related tokens like MAGA (TRUMP) and MAGA VP (MVP) initially fell but have since seen partial recovery.
