Rob Durscki, the Senior Director of Tokenization at Stellar Development Foundation, provided insights into the integration of payment and investment functionalities through tokenization. Durscki pointed out that new assets being issued on blockchain platforms, like those by Franklin Templeton and WisdomTree, are designed not only to unlock yield but also to facilitate their use as everyday payment tools. This dual functionality could revolutionize how we engage with financial assets, making it possible, for example, to split a dinner check using tokenized funds.

Durscki illustrated the practicality and efficiency of such transactions: "Nothing prevents us here from splitting the check on the dinner, and I’ll pay with Franklin Temple funds because I can send you $20 in 3.6 seconds on Stellar. [...] If you forget about that, you’re still getting 5%, 6% a year on that dinner." This scenario highlights the seamless nature of using tokenized assets, blending the benefits of investments with the utility of payments.

Tokenization: Enhancing Liquidity and Accessibility

Tokenization, the process of converting the ownership rights of an asset into a digital token on a blockchain, enhances the liquidity and accessibility of many types of assets.
