I am from Africa, a vast continent known for its rich human, natural, cultures, and diverse landscapes. Across the continent, the job opportunities are as diverse as the people. In 2022, over 42 million people were accounted to be unemployed. However, in urban areas, there is a growing demand for professionals in sectors such as technology, finance, healthcare, and logistics, opportunities that are mostly dominated by private and nongovernmental organizations. However, rural areas often face challenges related to job scarcity and underemployment.

Key Employment Challenges:

Africa’s population is growing faster than jobs are created, and whether the trend continues or can be reversed will have much to do with whether the continent generates prosperity or instability in the coming decades. A significant portion of Africa’s population still grapples with unemployment, and underemployment is a common issue. The youth demographic, in particular, faces challenges in accessing quality job opportunities. Insufficient access to education, training, and limited infrastructure are key issues in bridging this gap. However, according to the Africa Competitiveness Report 2017, released by the World Economic Forum, the African Development Bank, and the World Bank Group.
