The web3 video game "Pixels" has achieved a significant milestone, surpassing 1 million daily active users. This is a notable accomplishment, as most crypto-based games struggle to reach tens of thousands of daily users. According to Pixels CEO and Founder Luke Barwikowski, the key metric for success in Web3 is the ratio between PIXEL spent to PIXEL distributed. In the last 30 days, 4.4 million PIXEL have been spent, equivalent to approximately $1.6 million.

Blockchain-based gaming is still a developing sector within the crypto and gaming industries. While bigger-budget projects are on the horizon, aiming to rival AAA titles like "Grand Theft Auto" and "Call of Duty," their success is far from guaranteed. "Pixels" and "Axie Infinity" are two examples of crypto games that have gained popularity, with "Axie Infinity" attracting millions of users before facing a hack and declining crypto prices.

Like "Axie Infinity," "Pixels" runs on the Ronin blockchain and focuses on providing players with opportunities to earn crypto. The game has gained traction globally, with a recent article in The New York Times highlighting a resurgence of crypto gaming in the Philippines. According to Token Terminal data, Ronin's daily active user count has steadily increased since the end of last year, although it's unclear how much of this growth is attributed to "Pixels."

A spokesperson for "Pixels" pointed to an analyst's post on X, revealing that 18% of the game's 18 million website visitors in April came from the Philippines, with Brazil, Thailand, and Indonesia each accounting for around 9% of traffic. "Pixels" raised $4.8 million in February, backed by notable investors like Animoca Brands and Sky Mavis, the company behind "Axie Infinity."
