Jolinda Crocker and Judy Barr, the two affected customers, lost $60,000 and $23,865, respectively, to scammers. They received text messages from the bank asking for verification of large transactions. However, after reporting the fraudulent activities, Wells Fargo blamed the victims, claiming that they themselves initiated the transactions.

Despite the victims' efforts to report the fraud, Wells Fargo has declined to reimburse them, insisting that they were responsible for the transactions. This refusal has resulted in a prolonged two-year struggle for Crocker to reclaim her money, while Barr has faced numerous obstacles in trying to recover her funds.

Wells Fargo is among several prominent U.S. banks that are facing legal action from customers who allege that these financial institutions have weak security protocols, do not adequately verify significant transactions, and respond indifferently when fraudulent activities are reported promptly.
