Defi services have been operational and the market continues to grow. For example, the total amount of Ether in the Defi marketplace has passed $I billion as of October 2020.

The truth is, the market is huge and this is only the beginning.

Most of these funds are used in lending and borrowing platforms. It is indeed - today in any case - the flagship of Defi.

That is to say that the main sites of decentralized finance concern monetary lending sites (crypto or FIAT).

These are sites where users can borrow cryptocurrency or fiat money (euros, dollars, etc.) with interest rates. At the same time, users with cryptocurrencies

deposit their funds there to generate interest on their capital.

Why are decentralized finance sites a blessing for clients - compared to traditional finance sites?

1. Speed of fund transfers: we are very far from the interminable time that a traditional bank can take to allocate a loan.

2. No administrative papers and no red tape: To register, the process takes a few clicks. The validity of customer profiles is achieved by an online process that allows you to send your supporting documents and identity papers in one click.

3. 24/7 access: No agency, no appointment, no clumsy or incompetent employee. Access to their funds and their portfolio is possible for each client.

4. Security of funds: There, even if it is (it was) the Achilles heel of cryptographic funds, all the sites know how to protect themselves today and their customers against hacker attacks. Then again, classical finance is not immune to pirate attacks either.

5. Base of borrowing and equality of clients: In traditional finance, each client is judged on their financial past, here, the blockchain puts everyone in the same boat. Anyone can borrow (within the legal framework in which the company is authorized to work), without any discriminatory rule. In the age of Black Lives Matter, this is a consecration.

6. Reliability of platforms: To borrow, a person must deposit collateral in terms of a guarantee. No deadbeat, no bad player. We only receive what we have. Not only do these DeFi platforms encourage customers to keep their assets, but they also help raise additional funds.

Although services in decentralized finance are businesses (and intermediaries), they rely on decentralized technology.In fact, with a little hindsight, we could add many more advantages but it would affect other areas, which are at the intersection between finance and economics.

We can already see decentralized finance could improve the economy of many countries, and I am thinking particularly of Africa. Insofar as the continent has already learned a lot and improved its global economy thanks to FinTech innovations, it would seem that DeFi, decentralized finance would come as the icing on the cake.
