Yield Guild Games (YGG) operates as a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) focused on investing in non-fungible tokens (NFTs) utilized within blockchain games. These games are integral components of the metaverse, a comprehensive concept encompassing various aspects of blockchain-powered digital realms, such as digital land and assets.

In 2018, the concept of establishing a worldwide community for play-to-earn games emerged. The CEO and co-founder of YGG, Gabby Dizon, saw that blockchain gaming was popular in Southeast Asia. Many players at the time wanted to start playing the well-liked NFT game Axie Infinity, but they lacked the funds to purchase the Axies, or in-game NFT characters.

Recognizing that blockchain gaming may be a means for empowerment for people in underdeveloped nations, Dizon began giving other players who were unable to purchase Axies his own. Because of this, he and Beryl Li co-founded Yield Guild Games in 2020 with the goal of assisting players in thriving in the NFT and blockchain gaming industries.

How YGG Works

Yield Guild Games creates a metaverse economy on the Ethereum blockchain by fusing NFTs with Decentralized Finance (DeFi). Smart contracts are used to enforce the rules of the open-source YGG DAO system. It fulfills a multitude of functions, including executing community-voted governance choices, rewarding members, and enabling NFT rentals.

YGG is composed of several SubDAOs, each of which is made up of participants from a different NFT game or region. The regulations governing the management of the resources and activities of each play-to-earn game are unique to that SubDAO.

YGG is the native token for Yield Guild Games (YGG). It is an ERC-20 token that enables its owners to take part in the YGG DAO's governance. One billion tokens are available in total, of which 25 million YGG were sold in 2021 through an Initial DEX Offering (IDO) on SushiSwap.

Compared to other DeFi staking systems, the YGG DAO takes a different tack when it comes to yield farming. Tokens are often staked in order to receive fixed-rate interest. Every vault on YGG stands for a token incentive scheme associated with a certain YGG activity.
