Worldcoin, the innovative iris-scanning biometric digital identity project, has announced a strategic partnership with Alchemy, a prominent Web3 development platform. This collaboration aims to build robust infrastructure for World Chain, the newly introduced blockchain ecosystem that will also house Worldcoin's World ID and World app.

On June 26, Worldcoin revealed that this partnership with Alchemy will provide World Chain developers with immediate access to Alchemy's comprehensive Web3 developer platform. This platform includes essential tools such as core and data APIs, indexing solutions, and a suite of other resources necessary for powering decentralized applications.

Advancing Developer Tools and Security

The suite of tools available through Alchemy will include an account abstraction infrastructure designed to enhance the safety and security of self-custodial wallets within the World Chain ecosystem. Additionally, Alchemy will integrate World ID into its toolset, granting millions of developers worldwide access to this advanced digital identity technology.

Noam Hurwitz, Alchemy's engineering lead, emphasized the potential impact of this partnership. He stated that it will help make “meaningful progress” towards bringing a billion users on-chain and increase developers' opportunities to create “human-forward applications.”

World Chain: A Human-Centric Blockchain

Introduced in April 2024, World Chain is designed specifically for human-centric applications. According to Tools for Humanity, a key contributor to the World Chain ecosystem, this blockchain will work alongside other major platforms like Optimism, Coinbase, and the broader Ethereum ecosystem as part of the Superchain. The migration from OP mainnet is still pending, but once complete, World Chain will serve as the new home for Worldcoin’s World ID and World App.

World Chain’s optimization prioritizes real human users by using verified World IDs to allocate priority blockspace and provide a free gas allowance for casual transactions. This mechanism aims to eliminate bots and enhance developers' access to genuine users.

Steven Smith, head of protocol at Tools for Humanity, expressed the overarching goal of World Chain: to become the first blockchain designed explicitly for humans and the largest on-ramp for human users to engage on-chain.
