Worldcoin, the innovative cryptocurrency project behind the WLD token, has announced plans to establish Argentina as its new regional operations center in Latin America. This strategic move aims to expand the firm's presence in the country and the wider region, leveraging Argentina's advanced technological ecosystem and highly qualified workforce.

Worldcoin executives have been meeting with top government officials in Buenos Aires, including President Javier Milei, to lay the groundwork for this new initiative. The firm plans to open iris-scanning offices in 50 locations across more than 10 cities in Argentina, further solidifying its presence in the country.

A Natural Choice

Martín Mazza, regional manager of Tools for Humanity, the operator of Worldcoin, highlighted Argentina's advanced technological ecosystem and highly qualified workforce as key factors in the decision to focus on the country. He emphasized that Buenos Aires will become a regional center, promoting the development of artificial intelligence and financial inclusion in the country.

WLD's Growing Popularity

Worldcoin has already made significant strides in Argentina, with over half a million Argentines having had their irises scanned in just 10 months. This has led to long lines forming outside Worldcoin centers nationwide, and an unofficial reselling industry has emerged, with many WLD recipients swapping their coins for fiat at 50% of their market value.

Expansion Plans

In addition to Argentina, Worldcoin is also gaining traction in other Latin American nations like Chile, Peru, Colombia, and Mexico. The firm has already announced expansion plans for Mexico, where it began operating in July 2023.
