Zeus Network, the Solana-to-Bitcoin cross-chain bridge, is set to unveil its Zeus Program Library (ZPL) by Q3 2024, facilitating seamless connectivity between the two ecosystems.

Announced on May 1, ZPL is positioned to unlock a plethora of opportunities on Solana, enabling activities like DeFi, GameFi, SocialFi, DePIN, and more, which were previously challenging on the Bitcoin blockchain.

ZPL comprises Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) programs empowering developers to seamlessly integrate native Solana support into decentralized applications and execute transactions across multiple blockchains. According to Zeus Network, ZPL-Assets can encompass both fungible (cryptocurrencies) and non-fungible (NFTs) tokens, representing a diverse array of digital assets.

With a staggering market cap of approximately 1.2 trillion dollars and over 11,000 Runes generating more than $135 million in fees within the initial week on the Bitcoin blockchain, the potential for value transfer is enormous.

Through the ZPL and bridging protocol Apollo, users can deposit their Bitcoin (BTC) and receive ZPL-wrapped zBTC tokens in return. These tokens empower users to participate in decentralized exchanges, NFT marketplaces, borrowing, lending, gaming, and SocialFi within the Solana ecosystem.

Looking ahead, developers aim to expand ZPL-supported assets on Solana to include Bitcoin Runes and Ordinals, referred to as "zRuneX" and "zOrdX" respectively. Additionally, plans for Q3 include enabling Bitcoin staking on the Apollo mainnet.

Zeus Network, endorsed by Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko and Stacks co-founder Muneeb Ali, recently secured an $8 million funding round at a valuation of $100 million on April 8.

The emergence of Bitcoin Runes, a new token standard, and Bitcoin Ordinals, a unique numbering system, signifies a resurgence in the Bitcoin decentralized application ecosystem. These innovations enable users to tokenize various real-world assets and enhance functionalities on the Bitcoin blockchain.

The Bitcoin decentralized application ecosystem continues to evolve, with initiatives like Orders Exchange integrating with the Bitcoin Runes protocol, allowing the issuance of fungible tokens on the native network, and establishing a Bitcoin asset bridge with MicroVisionChain for BRC-20 token swaps.
