Zilliqa has grappled with consecutive network disruptions, but with diligence, it has managed to restore network functionality and is now diligently debugging as it implements its v9.3.4 network upgrade.

Recently, Zilliqa's network faced a series of operational hiccups, impacting block production on its mainnet. However, as of May 10, the network has been fully reinstated, although the underlying cause is still being investigated.

The Zilliqa team promptly informed the community about the network's online status post "temporary disruptions to block production on the mainnet." With network functionality restored, the infrastructure team remains vigilant, continually monitoring the network's stability while delving into the root causes of the recent disruptions.

Since the initial signs of disruption emerged on May 8, with a detected slowdown in block generation, Zilliqa's technical team has been actively engaged for nearly 48 hours, striving to preempt any further disruptions.

On May 9, around 9:30 am UTC, the Zilliqa technical team identified a malfunction resulting in a null value "instead of a node's RLP following a possible invalid database lookup."

"The team has set up internal rehearsal networks to replicate this issue and test bug fixes, allowing potential solutions to undergo testing within a controlled environment before proceeding to Testnet and mainnet deployments."

By approximately 2:30 pm UTC on May 9, the team had successfully restored full functionality through a fix, alongside the rollout of the Zilliqa version 9.3.4 network upgrade. The team highlighted that the upgrade would encompass "a number of enhancements to EVM compatibility" and extended apologies for any inconvenience experienced by users and the Zilliqa community.

However, despite the implementation of the fix and the upgrade rollout, another disruption to block production hit the Zilliqa mainnet on May 9, around 7:05 PM UTC. At this juncture, the team bolstered debugging processes to gain deeper insights into the issue and address its root cause.

This isn't the first time Zilliqa's block production has been hindered by disruptions stemming from technical issues. In December 2023, an "interruption to block production" precipitated a drastic decline in daily Zilliqa blockchain transactions by approximately 50% — from approximately 61,000 to 30,906.

The Zilliqa team remains steadfast in its investigation into the underlying causes of the recent network disruptions and extends gratitude to the community for their "patience and support" throughout the resolution process.
