This recent decision is attributed to regulatory challenges and follows developments related to the co-founders of Samourai Wallet, a fellow privacy-focused wallet provider.

The move has led to difficulties for numerous users attempting to access zkSNACKs' website, hindering their ability to download and utilize Wasabi Wallet and its associated features, including RPC interfaces and APIs. To enforce this measure, zkSNACKs has implemented an IP address firewall.

Amidst Escalating Regulatory Scrutiny

While zkSNACKs has not issued an official statement regarding this decision, speculation suggests that the timing coincides with reported arrests involving the co-founders of Samourai Wallet. Keonne Rodriguez and William Lonergan Hill, the two individuals behind Samourai Wallet, are reportedly facing charges by the U.S. Department of Justice for alleged money laundering totaling $100 million.

The legal actions against them have raised concerns within the cryptocurrency community, particularly regarding the potential implications for privacy-focused wallet providers. Samourai Wallet, renowned for its anonymity features, has come under scrutiny for allegedly facilitating money laundering activities through services like Whirlpool and Ricochet, which purportedly processed nearly 80,000 BTC and accrued approximately $4.5 million in fees.

In a similar vein, the creators of Tornado Cash, a widely-used cryptocurrency mixing service, have also encountered legal challenges and arrests over alleged involvement in illicit activities.
